FRED
On 25th August 2003, Outer Aberdeen and District Lost and Found received a call - a large black and white Felix lookalike cat had been visiting homes in the Bridge of Don over the summer months.
A very confident, friendly cat in good condition. Concern was expressed that he may not have a permanent home for the winter months. A Cats Protection collar was duly sent out, with our Lost and Found number
Within 48 hours it transpired that Fred had regularly been visiting three different home for tit-bits - while his real owner lived in the next street. The feeders exchanged telephone numbers, so his movements could be tracked.
Cunning Fred was supposed to be on a diet - on veterinary advice - and his owner had not been able to understand why he was not losing weight with his reduced feeding regime.
Fred now wears a collar with his telephone number - and bold lettering declaring "please do not feed me" engraved on the tag. The "owner" has also been advised to have Fred microchipped - which will help to resolve any future disputes over ownership!

So if anyone else suspects that their cat visits other homes ... please heed the above.
Believe it or not, this is not an uncommon story. One other case involved a cat that was regularly visiting five 'homes' - each convinced this was their adopted cat!
